Breakfast Roundtable - H-1B Change of Employer

It seems that immigration law is becoming more complex with each passing day.  In an effort to address many of the common immigration issues our clients face, LMAC has put together a Breakfast Roundtable Series.  The roundtables provide a small informal setting to learn about various immigration issues.  The first Breakfast Roundtable will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2009 from 8:30-9:30 am at our office.  The focus of the first Breakfast Roundtable will be H-1B Change of Employer cases and will cover the following topics:

-How is an H-1B Change of Employer (COE) case different than a "normal" H-1B case?
-What questions should an employer ask a potential hire before proceeding with an H-1B COE case?
-When can an employee start employment with the new employer?
-Is premium processing required or recommended for an H-1B COE case?
-What if the potential hire has been laid off - does that impact the H-1B COE case?
-What if the potential hire has an EAD work authorization card based on his green card process - should we still consider an H-1B COE case or can we employ him on the EAD?

Please note that space will be limited.  If you are interested in attending, please contact Diana Vellos Coker at Diana@larrabee.com by end of business on September 17, 2009.
