Department of State Amends Fee Schedule for Consular Services

Effective September 12, 2014, immigrant and nonimmigrant visa application fees for certain visa categories will change. All visa applicants must pay the fee amounts in effect on the day they pay, with the exception of immigrant visa application processing fees paid domestically to the National Visa Center (NVC), which will be effective as of the date of billing. Refunds are not available to applicants who paid a visa fee before September 12, 2014 and that fee decreased.

Nonimmigrant Visa fees paid under the prior fee schedule will be accepted 90 days after the new fees go into effect, as follows:

– Applicants who paid the visa fee before September 12, 2014, and the visa interview is on or before December 11, 2014, do not have to pay the difference between the new and old fee amounts.

– Applicants who paid the visa fee before September 12, 2014, and the visa interview is on or after December 12, 2014, will be required to pay the difference between the old and new fee amounts.

New Nonimmigrant Application Fees

E-1 Treaty Trader, E-2 Investor, E-3 Australian Professional- New Fee: $205 Old Fee: $270

K – Fiancé(e) or Spouse of U.S. citizen- New Fee: $265 Old Fee: $240

Border crossing card (under age 15) for Mexican citizens if parent or guardian has or is applying for a border crossing card- New Fee: $16 Old Fee: $15

Fees for B, F, J, H, L, O, P, Q, R, and TN visas will not change.

Immigrant Visa Application Fees

Immediate relative and family preference applications (processed on the basis of an approved I-130, I-600 or I-800 petition)- New Fee: $325 Old Fee: $230

Employment-based applications (processed on the basis of an approved I-140 or I-526 petition)- New Fee: $345 Old Fee: $405

Other immigrant visa applications (including approved I-360 self-petitioners, special immigrant visa applicants, and all others, except DV program selectees)- New Fee: $205 Old Fee: $220

Affidavit of Support review (only when reviewed domestically)- New Fee: $120 Old Fee: $88

Special Visa Services

Application for determining returning resident status- New Fee: $180 Old Fee: $275

Application for waiver of two-year J-1 residency requirement- New Fee: $120 Old Fee: $215
