Associate Attorney – Business Immigration

Location

On site in San Diego, California.  Option to work one day per week remotely is permissible after three months.

What You Will be Doing

  • Support senior attorneys in representing clients in the full spectrum of business immigration matters: NIV and IV petitions, PERM labor certifications, adjustment of status and consular processing, naturalization, I-9 and employer compliance matters
  • Support senior attorneys in representing clients in family-based immigration matters
  • Successfully prepare and supervise preparation of a high volume of cases without sacrificing high-quality work product
  • Stay current on developments in immigration law and policy
  • Answer client and staff questions with a clear understanding of the ethical rules for communication
  • Collaborate with other attorneys; guide and manage legal assistants and paralegals
  • Assist with the development and training of staff and clients
  • Partner with other members of the firm to review and/or suggest process improvements and support implementation

What You Will Bring to Larrabee Albi Coker LLP

  • At least 5 years of experience as an employment-based immigration attorney
  • Strong research, writing and analytical skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • The ability to interact in a professional and respectful manner, contributing to a positive and collaborative work environment
  • Willingness to give and receive guidance
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and ensure internal and external service level agreements are met
  • Proficiency, or possess the ability to become proficient, in our case management system (LawLogix) and other technology used by the firm

Requirements

Juris Doctor and State Bar licensure required; California Bar licensure preferred

Accounting Operations Manager

San Diego, CA – Larrabee, Albi Coker LLP, an established, reputable U.S. immigration law firm with a national client base seeks an Accounting Operations Manager to join our team.

We are located in the Sorrento Valley technology hub of San Diego.   Our firm represents over 350 companies, which include small and large corporations, universities, and research institutes, in addition to many individuals.  We are committed to the provision of the highest level of legal services in a professional and ethical manner.

What You Will Be Doing

This critical role will be responsible for managing all accounting and financial reporting requirements.  This position will be responsible for proactively developing and maintaining the firm’s budget and financial planning activities and accountable for the analysis of financial results and the ongoing oversight of process improvements in systems and technology.   This role will also be responsible for managing and negotiating vendor contracts and policy renewals.

Accounting/Finance (approximately 75% of the role):

  • Manage of all of the firm’s accounting and finance operations, including both strategic and tactical responsibilities
  • Manage budgeting and planning
  • Identify opportunities to suggest process improvements and efficiencies within firm, including technology improvements
  • Interface with staff and clients
  • Supervise other accounting roles
  • Review and verify the accuracy of invoices and processing of payments
  • Month end processing to include timely billing and collections
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial and budget reports
  • Manage vendor relations for the firm’s leases and insurance policies
  • Collaborate with attorneys and clients to create and maintain customize reporting
  • Liaise with outside payroll (Paychex), benefits and CPA firm
  • Administer and manage the firm’s benefits, 401(k) and payroll for employees
  • Manage the end-to-end financial and internal controls process

Operations (approximately 25% of the role):

  • Assist with equipment purchases and leases (e.g., copiers, telephones, etc.)
  • Manage space, office lease negotiations
  • Handle insurance policy renewals (e.g., malpractice, cyber, employment practices, etc.)
  • Ensure business and professional licensures and certifications are renewed
  • Assistance with marketing oversight as needed
  • Other responsibilities as needed

What You Will Bring to Larrabee Albi Coker LLP

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting
  • 3-5 years of finance/accounting experience, ideally in a law firm or professional services organization
  • Experience with MS Office (Outlook, Word and Excel)
  • Experience with a document management software preferred (Worldox is ideal)
  • Experience managing account payables and receivables and implement process improvements, specifically QuickBooks
  • Experience collaborating with clients and prepare billing and customized reporting
  • Experience with researching, documenting and solving accounting challenges
  • Experience with attorney IOLTA accounts preferred
  • Contract negotiation experience preferred
  • A high level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism
  • A hands-on workstyle
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Enthusiasm to lead and mentor staff
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Ability to work additional hours as needed

Immigration Paralegal or Case Writer

San Diego, CA – Larrabee Albi Coker LLP, a boutique employment-based immigration law firm, is looking to hire a talented paralegal.  Required academic and professional qualifications: A four-year bachelor’s degree in a writing intensive degree field.  Experience with employment-based immigration is a plus. Will work on nonimmigrant and immigrant cases requiring heavy research and writing responsibilities (for foreign nationals with specialized knowledge and multinational managers and executives).  Position requires strong written and oral communication skills; ability to multitask in a deadline-driven environment; proficient knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office.
