Preimmigration Planning: Ten Things You Should Advise Your Clients Before Moving to the US
At Larrabee Albi Coker LLP, we recognize that navigating the U.S. immigration system can be just one piece of the puzzle for people with global ties and connections. It is also critical for international individuals and their advisors to understand the pre-immigration tax considerations, and US and state tax filing requirements before moving to the US. Advisors such as attorneys, CPAs, financial planners, and corporate human resource personnel play an important role in identifying financial compliance issues for foreign nationals. We would like to invite you to this special event focusing on briefing your incoming executives.
LAC is pleased to host a complimentary breakfast featuring Leah LeLoup, International Tax Manager and Kate Leonard, Partner at Hutchinson and Bloodgood LLP. This is an event you are not going to want to miss.
International tax is the focus of both Leah and Kate’s work at Hutchinson and Bloodgood, LLP. They provide tax services to Americans working overseas and to executives moving to the United States, and to foreign business establishing operations in the US.
As part of this practice Leah and Kate also work closely with law firms to serve clients who have entered the IRS Offshore Voluntary Disclosure Program due to unreported foreign income and assets.
In July 2012, Kate was appointed the Honorary Consul General of Japan in San Diego in recognition of her decades of involvement with Japan. The position involves the safeguarding of Japanese nationals in San Diego and the enhancement of the business, cultural and academic ties between San Diego and Japan. She also serves as the President of the San Diego Consular Corps.
Leah previously worked in Denmark for a major accounting firm and competed in the 2009 Women’s Lacrosse World Cup as a member of the Danish National Lacrosse team. She will be making a presentation on this topic in August at the Danish-American Business Forum seminar in Copenhagen.
